The Hillcrest/Underwood girls’ soccer team lost all-time career and single season goal scorer Kindra Peterson, Midfielder Alexa Thomas, defensive player Anna Rasmussen and Goal Keeper Juliana Undseth to graduation, however, the Comets have a solid nucleus of players returning, led by senior captains Emma Abrahamsen (Midfield), MacKenzie Foss (Forward), Cassandra Twedt (Defense) and Emma Marfell (Goal Keeper).

“As usual we are an inexperienced team, but we have a lot of athleticism,” commented sixth-year head coach Jeremy Mueller.  “Due to the volleyball season being moved to the Spring we have a number of girls giving soccer a try for the first time, however, some of them are catching on quickly and I believe will make significant contributions on the field.  We have our eyes on finishing in third place in our conference.”

Mueller sees East Grand Forks and Detroit Lakes as the teams to beat in Section 8A North play.  The Comets will be looking to improve on their 7-10 overall and 5-5 conference record of a year ago.

Junior Annie Claney (Midfield) and sophomore Hope Adams (Defense) lead the group of newcomers.

Mueller will be assisted by Mandi Smith and Jeremy Forrester.
