The Fergus Falls Hurricanes registered a 5-3 win over the Sauk Centre Titans on Saturday in the Region 16 Amateur Baseball Tournament at Fireman’s Field in Carlos.  Eric Salveson (6IP, 5K, 1BB, 4H, 0R) improved his record to 3-0 and Darin Stanislawski (3IP, 5K, 1BB, 3H, 3ER) notched his second save of the season.

The ‘Canes got on the board with single runs in the third and fourth innings.  Jack Hiedeman drew a lead-off walk in the third, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Hensch and scored on a single by Thomas Bosek.  In the fourth, Pete Gaustad launched a solo home run with two outs in the inning.

A three-run sixth gave the Hurricanes a 5-0 advantage.  Tosten Mann singled with one out and Sean McGuire delivered a two-out base hit.  Gaustad then brought Man home with a single and McGuire scored when Alex Hexum reached base on an error.  Gaustad scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.

Sauk Centre scored all three of their runs in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Fletcher and a two-run triple by Derek Holm.

Mann (2-4, R) and Gaustad (2-4, 2R, HR, 2RBI) led the offensive attack for Fergus Falls.

The Hurricanes will face the Osakis Hawks, a 9-1 winner over the Vergas Loons, at 5pm in Carlos.

Other results from Saturday saw the Alexandria Black Sox eliminate the Dent Wildcats, 7-2 and the Long Prairie Predators eliminated the Carlos Cougars, 12-0 in 7 innings.  Long Prairie plays Vergas at 11:00am and Sauk Centre plays Alexandria at 2:00pm Sunday in elimination games in Carlos.
