The Breckenridge Senior Babe Ruth team picked up another 8-0 victory in a dominant performance over Pelican Rapids on Thursday night.

“Breckenridge came out firing on all cylinders tonight and our small ball and speed on the bases were too much for Pelican to handle scoring 3 runs in both the first and second innings,” reported Head Coach Kevin Hiedeman. “In those innings Breck had 6 bunt singles and 6 stolen bases.

We just did a fabulous job playing small ball tonight and Pelican was unable to defend it.”

Breck added additional runs in the third and in the 6th. Defensively Breck did not commit an error. Breckenridge threw 4 different pitchers striking out 11 batters and only walking three. Carter Haugen pitched 1 2/3 with three strikeouts. Connor Twidwell pitched the next 2 1/3 also with 3 strikeouts. Ty Piechowski pitched 2 innings striking out two and walking two and Jeremy Stack came in for his pitching debut and looked great on the mound striking out three and walking one in the final inning.

Offensively Stack led the team with three hits. Emmit Vig picked up a couple hits and Piechowski, Twidwell, Andrew Teberg, Jared Aamold, Jack Aigner and Max Johnson all contributed with singles.

“We are playing our best baseball of the year right now and it couldn’t have come at a better time,” added Hiedeman.

Breckenridge has its final two home games Friday, a game in Hawley on Monday and the conference tournament starts in Pelican Rapids on Thursday of next week.
