11U Otters Earn Two Wins Over Breckenridge

The Fergus Falls 11u Otters swept Breckenridge on Tuesday night by the scores of 9-0 and 17-2.

In the first game, Kadyn Zender toed the rubber and pitched four scoreless innings for the Otters. Josh Horgen closed the game with a scoreless 5th. In the bottom of the first, the Otters wasted no time by scoring four runs to jump on Breckenridge and never look back. Caleb Fronning, Nolan Felstul, and Josh Horgen all singled and scored. Jacob Jenc walked and scored in the first. In the second, the Otters tacked on 4 more runs with Levi Budke and Benett Thielke walking and coming around to score and Fronning and Brody Krein both collecting hits and coming around to score. The Otters scored their final run in the 4th with Budke scoring. Hitting leaders for game 1 were Fronning with two hits and Felstul, Krein (3b), Zender (2b), Horgen, John Abrahams, and Kellen Funkhouser all with one hit.

In the second game, Benett Thielke started on the mound and pitched two strong innings. Fronning, Felstul, and Krein each pitched a scoreless inning to shut the door on Breckenridge. The Otters bats came alive in the second game with 19 base hits. The Otters scored two in the first with Fronning and Zender singling and coming around to score. The Otters broke the game open in the second with Hunter Welle, Budke, Thielke, Fronning, and Felstul getting on base and coming around to score. The Otters added one run in the third with Horgen singling and coming around to score. In the 4th, Funkhouser, Thielke, Fronning, Felstul, and Krein all got hits and came around to score. In the 5th, The Otters added 4 more with Funkhouser, Fronning, Krein, and Zender all scoring. Hitting leaders in game 2 were Fronning (2b), Felstul (2b), and Thielke (2b) with 3 hits, Krein (2b and 3b), Zender (2b), Horgen, and Funkhouser (2b) with 2 hits, and Jenc and Welle with a hit each.

Up next for the Otters is a tournament in Fargo this weekend. The Otters wrap up their season on August 6 with a doubleheader against Moorhead at 5:30 at Grotto Park.
