The Fergus Falls U19 baseball team was shutout 2-0 in the first game of their Wednesday double header with Parkers Prairie, however, they got the bats going in game two as they earned a split with a 10-3 victory.

“We played an extremely sloppy first game,” commented Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “We were not sharp in any facet of the game.  We faced a good pitcher and he threw well, but we did not play our best game with multiple errors and one hit.”

Arik Heacox (3.2IP, 2H, 2R, 1ER, 6BB, 8K) started on the mound and took the loss.  Michael Wiederich (3.1IP, 0H, 0R, 5K) pitched well in relief.  Nic Pearson registered the lone hit for Fergus Falls in game one as tough lefty Alex Koep tossed the shutout.

Brock Kotschevar (5.1IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 4BB, 9K) was the winning pitcher in the second game.  Shane Wahlund (1.2IP, 3BB, 3K) finished up on the mound.  Pearson (2-4, 2B, 3B, 3RBI) and Heacox (1-3, 2RBI) led the offensive attack in game two.

“We had a much more disciplined approach in game two,” shared Larson.  “We made the plays that should be made and had a nice play turned in at third by Heacox who made a diving stop to his left.”

Fergus Falls returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Detroit Lakes beginning at 5:00pm.
