The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team ended their season with a record of 25 wins and 4 losses.  Two of their losses came in overtime contests and the other two were to a very good Moorhead team.  The Otters were Central Lakes Conference champions with a 14-2 record.  Season awards were presented recently.

Seniors Ethan Olson, Cody Norgren, Parker Jacobs, Brock Kotschevar and junior Dominic Aguilar all received the Otter Culture Award and the Captains Award.  Senior Jack Culbertson was also a Captains Award recipient.

“As a coach, I cannot say enough great things about the character of the players this year,” said Head Coach Matt Johnson.  “We had great leadership from our seniors.  They set a great example of how to show up and work each day.  They have done a great job of representing our Otter Basketball Culture.  It was disappointing to not have the season end on our terms, but it does not take away from the accomplishments of the team and the memories that were made.”

Olson, Aguilar and Chance Fazio were named to the Central Lakes All-Conference team, while Norgren, Jacobs and Kotschevar were Honorable Mention All-Conference selections.

Fazio was named the Most Improved Player and led the team with the best field goal percentage (63%), while setting a single season record with 75 blocked shots.  He led the team with 273 rebounds and 457 points.

Jacobs was named the Defensive Player of the Year.  Kotschevar had the best free throw percentage (81%), Olson was named to the Minnesota Academic All-State Team and led in 3-point field goal efficiency at 45% and Aguilar tied Kotschevar with the best free throw percentage (81%). Set a single season record with 173 assists and had the most steals (65).

“I am thankful to have had the opportunity to coach this group, and look forward to our returning players putting in the work, continuing to grow and improve, and getting back in the gym this summer.”

JV Awards went to Kaden Conklin (Most Improved Player, Otter Culture Award), Luke Newman (Defensive Player of the Year), Jack Vogl (Otter Culture Award) and Jack Uhrich (Otter Culture Award).

Ninth grade award winners were Grant Ackerson (Most Improved Player), Elliot Pribbenow (Otter Culture Award) and Jaydon Manteufel (Defensive Player of the Year).
