Hawley senior Paige Thompson will continue her basketball career at the next level as she will be competing for the Dragons at MSU-Moorhead.  In addition to basketball, Paige played volleyball for the Nuggets.  She will be pursuing a degree in Elementary Education and Coaching.

“One of my favorite basketball memories has to be my senior season,” said Thompson.  “I know that is a broad area, but I can’t choose between all of our bus ride jams, locker room ‘pow-wows’, and of course the team meals.  There are so many memories inside of those things that I will cherish forever.”

Head Girls Basketball Coach Bill Gottenborg said, “Paige Thompson had a phenomenal high school career. She was a fun player to coach - always coachable and full of enthusiasm.”

“Being involved in sports has taught me to work hard for what I want,” added Thompson.  “Nothing comes easy.  I grew up watching my older cousins and their classmates and it showed me how to work hard on the floor but to also be a leader on and off the court.”

“It has been challenging not being able to see my friends every day this spring,” said Thompson.  “Also, I miss the teachers.  Throughout this ‘Distance Learning’ the teachers have really reached out to us to make sure we were doing well, and I know this hasn’t been easy for anyone.”

“My advice to the younger athletes is to never settle,” concluded Thompson.  “You can do whatever you set your mind to.  Don’t take ‘No’ as an answer and if people are doubting you, prove them wrong.  Enjoy every moment with the team and make as many memories as you can!”
