Ashby High School senior Sami Schlotfeld played volleyball and golf for the Arrows.  Her top sports memories including golfing in a downpour and not being able to finish the meet, and going to volleyball tournaments.

“Sami's love of the game is obvious,” exclaimed Head Volleyball Coach Hayley Stevens. “She is passionate about playing and she has great knowledge of the game.”

“Being active in sports has taught me how to be a team player on and off the court or course,” said Schlotfeld.  “I always had fun no matter what the outcome of the game or meet.”

Sami will be attending Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where she will majoring in Marketing and Pre-Law.  Her favorite high school subjects were Criminal Justice and Statistics.

“This spring I have been trying to stay busy with different activities and schoolwork,” added Schlotfeld.

Golf Coach Andy Peterson said, “Sami has been a solid leader for our girls’ golf team.  She has been the glue that held the group together.  As new golfers joined she would lead by example and would show the rest of the team what to do.  Her leadership will be missed.”

Her favorite quote comes from the movie, the Dead Poets Society and doubles as good advice for underclassmen, “Carpe diem.  Seize the day, boys.  Make your lives extraordinary.”
