Zach Olson, a senior at Parkers Prairie high school, is planning on going to the University of Minnesota – Crookston to major in Agronomy.  While in high school he participated in football for the Panthers.

“Playing in the ‘snow bowl’ against KMS is one of my most memorable games,” shared Olson.  “It was freezing cold and with all the snow coming down we could hardly pass the ball.  I still haven’t washed my jersey from that game!”

“Zach played linebacker and running back for our Panther Football team,” said Head Coach Michael Johnson. “Not only did he play those positions, but he played many other roles as well. Zach was a captain and a leader. Zach was awarded our Panther Award for the past two seasons. The Panther award goes to someone who is all about the team. Zach was willing to say what needed to be said to his teammates and truly put his heart and soul into our football program. Zach was an emotional leader and brought so much energy to the field. Zach was our 2nd leading rusher on the season as well as 4th in receptions and 2nd in tackles with 98 total tackles, 3 sacks, and 5 tackles for a loss. Zach received an All-District Honorable Mention award this year as well. Zach will be missed and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”

“Being in sports has kept me in shape and brought me closer together with all my friends,” acknowledged Olson.  “I really enjoyed History as a school subject, because learning from the past is how we go about the future.”

A favorite quote of his comes from Christopher Columbus who said, “You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”
