Logan Petznick is a graduating senior from Pelican Rapids High School.  During his high school years he has competed in cross country, basketball and golf.  He favored Math and Science classes in high school and is looking forward to attending the University of North Dakota where he will pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.

“I have several great memories that were made with former Pelican Rapids High School golvers Alex Nettestad and Joe Stetz,” shared Petznick.  “They always competed on and off the course.”

“Logan has been a member of my golf program at Pelican Rapids High School for six years,” reported Head Golf Coach Doug Bruggeman.  “It has been such a great experience for me to watch him grow and mature over the years.  Since his sophomore year, I have relied on Logan to be my sounding board for what we should do as a team to improve.  This past summer he was instrumental in helping me organize and track a golf challenge that held the members of our varsity golf team more accountable to self-improvement over the off season.  Not only did Logan help encourage others to set goals for the summer, he set a number of really lofty goals for himself and accomplished them.  They say you want your best player to be your hardest worker and Logan lives up to that expectation.  Golf was not the only sport that I noticed Logan’s willingness to work hard and lead others.  In the spring of 2019, I set up workouts for boys’ basketball players.  Logan impressed me with his desire to be more than just average in his efforts at these workouts.  Because of scheduling conflicts we had a couple of our workouts cancelled.  Logan took it upon himself to touch base with spring coaches and find out when we could make up these sessions.  His desire to make up these sessions was great but his willingness to take time to contact our high school coaches was impressive. I mention these extracurricular areas first as Logan has always had a strong focus towards success in the academic world.  Once again it has been a joy to watch this young man find his way in our school over the years.  He has matured into the type of person that you can truly count on to be there and give his best effort.  He consistently demonstrates that he wants to be more than just the average high school student.  His academic performance has been outstanding and the trust that he has with teachers in our school is top notch.  As you can see, I have a very positive view of Logan.  He is set to be a difference maker in the world beyond high school.  I know he will work hard to serve others and help people around him find their greatness.”

“I have learned several life lessons throughout my years at PRHS,” added Petznick.  “I have learned leadership roles, teamwork, integrity, to always give my all, and so much more.  I have been staying busy during this time of uncertainty by riding dirt bike, doing some rodent hunting, playing basketball with my brother and especially golfing.  With golf courses open I try to get out almost every day to enjoy the outdoors while also being away from home.”

Basketball Coach John Gullingsrud said, “Logan represented our basketball program in such a positive way during his time playing for us as he was a great teammate and was very coachable.  He always had a desire to compete and would show up every day for practice or games ready to give it all he had that day.”

Cross Country Coach Steve Maresh added these thoughts, “Logan was not afraid to step out of his comfort zone as he frequently pushed the pace during workouts.  His comedic personality brought smiles to his teammates and coaches during long practice sessions.”

To the underclassmen, Logan has these words, “Time goes quicker than you think.  I remember in ninth grade thinking I had four years to go and thought it would take forever.  Even as a junior I thought I had a lot of time left, but before you know it, it will come to an end.”
