Breahna McCollum was a member of the D-G-F softball team that went to state four years in a row.  A sports memory that tops the list for the Rebels senior.  A list that also includes the time a teammate ran over another teammate’s helmet with their car before a game!  Different memories, but great ones from her softball experience.

“Breahna is the heart and soul of this years’ team,” stated Head Coach Ron Drechsel. “She is our 12 month softball junkie who put a lot of time during the off season and was really looking forward to having an outstanding senior year.  Breahna is a very versatile player who can either play infield or outfield. She would have been starting at 3rd base for us and probably bat 3rd in our lineup. Great coachable kid and team player. As one of our 2 senior captains she was very assertive and responsible in getting team activities going. We will miss her outstanding leadership and peer relationship abilities.”

While at D-G-F Breahna enjoyed Chemistry, Biology and Anatomy in the classroom.  She plans now on attending UND for radiology, majoring in Biology.

“I made a lot of new friends through sports and being involved kept me active,” mentioned McCollum.  “Sports taught me how to focus, work hard and how to let go of mistakes.  Not being in school for classes this spring has been difficult.  I learn best with face-to-face interaction.  Not being in a sport this spring has shown me how lazy I would’ve been if I never played!”

Breahna has this advice for underclassmen, “let go of all your mistakes and stay positive.  You only have so long to do what you love or enjoy.  Don’t take it for granted.”
