Kaleigh Anderson is wrapping up her high school career at West Central Area High School like so many other seniors around the country, by missing out on her spring season, which is softball, and on her final weeks of seeing her classmates at school.

“I’m not going to lie, but I have been pretty sad and mad,” said Anderson.  “I miss my classmates and other underclassmen, but I mostly miss my softball season and teammates.  A lot of us described this upcoming season as ‘our season’ or ‘our year’.  Everything I looked forward to my whole life was taken away from me.  I have been spending a lot of time outdoors playing various sports with my younger brother.  It’s not the same, but it does help a little.”

“Kaleigh was a smooth infield with good range,” said West Central Area Head Softball Coach Bill Aufdenkamp.  “A solid leader for the team and she truly enjoyed playing the game.  She will be missed.”

Kaleigh also played volleyball for the Knights and will be continuing with that sport when she attends M State in Fergus Falls this fall.  She plans on pursuing a major in Business Administration.  When asked what her favorite high school subject was she said, “Math, math, and more math.”

“Kaleigh was such a versatile player for us this past season,” said Head Volleyball Coach Missy Foslien.  “She is an excellent passer and very quick, which one would assume would placer he in the libero positions.  We really needed a strong setter and right back defensive players and she made that switch for the team.  Kaleigh works hard in everything she does.  The Knights Volleyball program will miss her!”

“My top sports memory is when I was finally able to get a pancake in volleyball, and also getting closer with some of the different girls on our team,” revealed Anderson.  “Playing sports is my life.  If I’m not doing homework I am playing a sport of some kind.  Sports has helped me make new friends over the years and has brought me a lot closer to friends I already have.  Those are bonds I will never forget.”

Kaleigh shared this parting message with the underclassmen, “Everyone spends their time in high school wishing they weren’t in it, but my advice to you is to enjoy the time you get with your classmates and teammates, because one day when you’re old like me, you’re going to wish you had!  Once it’s done, all you have left are the memories.  Don’t take the time and memories for granted!”
