Katie George will graduate from Battle Lake High School in May.  Throughout her high school years she has been active in Cross Country and Track and Field.

“Katie is an outstanding student-athlete,” said OTC Head Cross Country Coach Brady Speicher. “She excels in the classroom and on the course/track. She is leaving a lasting impact not only on our school records but also the culture as she is a great role model for our younger athletes. I'm excited to see what Katie's future will hold.”

This summer Katie will be attend Army AIT in Virginia and then in the fall will be going to Minnesota State University – Moorhead for a degree in Biology: Health and Medical Sciences, and possibly participate in the track and field program.  Physical Education, Biology and History have been her preferred areas of study through high school.

“Some of my top sports memories include Ultimate Frisbee, lake days, team get-togethers and state trips,” said George.  “Being involved in sports has helped me to become more confident and to realize my strengths.  It has taught me commitment and teamwork.”

As for missing out on spring sports, Katie says, “I’m disappointed that I can’t participate with my friends, but I know I can still train and stay in shape on my own.”

Her advice to underclassmen – “You are strong and resilient; never give up.”
