Rothsay senior Ethan Curtis found time to participate in four sports during his high school years.  Curtis competed in football, basketball, golf and trap shooting for the Tigers.

“Sports has taught me a lot of things,” shared Curtis.  “It has taught me how to be responsible and have positive energy in tough situations.  Playing sports has also taught me that you must be able to work hard and be committed to reach your goals.”

Ethan’s top sports memories include playing a regular season football game on a Thursday while it was snowing, and beating Hillcrest in basketball on the Comets home court.  His favorite school subjects are Math and Food Science.

“Ethan is one of the hardest workers to come through our basketball program,” said Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “He is one of those kids that you never have to worry about their effort.   He would give you all he had day in and day out. Ethan has a bright future ahead of him and it’s exciting to see a hard working student-athlete move on.”

Football Coach Joshua Nordick added, “Ethan has been a leader on the football team for a couple years.  He has been moved around in the scheme but never questioned his role.  He was a team player.  He knew when to have fun and when to get down to brass tacks and get hard work done.  He never backed down from a challenge and earned the respect of players, opponents and coaches.”

Curtis is going to attend NDSCS and major in Precision Machining.

When asked how he was dealing with not being able to be in school or compete in sports this spring, Curtis answered, “I have been doing a lot of things that I normally would not have time for in the spring.  I have been playing a lot more basketball at my house and playing a little more video games than normal!”

A favorite quote of Ethan’s came from the late NBA star Kobe Bryant who said, “Once you know what failure feels like, determination chases success.”
