The Perham baseball team had a memorable season in 2019, finishing with a record of 23-4, winning the Heart O’ Lakes Conference title with a perfect 12-0 mark, capturing the Section 8AA championship and taking sixth place in the Minnesota State Class AA High School Baseball Tournament.  As coach James Mulcahy begins his third year with the Yellowjackets, he does so with a solid nucleus of returning talent.

Seniors Maddux Kovash (SS/P), Carter Mulcahy (C) and Michael Benke (3B/P), and juniors Noah Rooney (OF/P) and Finn Diggins (P) are returning starters for Perham,  Seniors Chayse Solberg (1B) and Steve Lindberg (UT/DH), and sophomore Chas Melvin (SS/P) will fill varsity roles this season.  Mulcahy, Kovash, Rooney and Benke will serve as captains.

“The team has committed to an off season routine that will pay off in season,” said coach Mulcahy.  “A very tough non-conference schedule will prepare us for playoffs.  We have a strong and deep pitching staff.”

Perham will be challenged by DGF and Breckenridge in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference, while the top teams in Section 8AA are DGF, Wadena-Deer Creek, Fergus Falls, Roseau and East Grand Forks.

Assistant Coaches are TJ Super (Varsity Assistant/Infielders), Jan Erik Lindberg (JV Head Coach/Catchers), Taylor Doll (C Team Head Coach/Pitchers), Mike Baso (Varsity Assistant/Outfield) and CJ Mulcahy (Varsity Assistant/Hitters).
