Lady Vikings Finish Season 30-1 after Win over Concordia Academy

The Pelican Rapids girls’ basketball team ended an amazing season by recording their thirtieth win on Thursday in the Consolation semifinals of the Class AA State Tournament at Concordia University in St. Paul.  The lady Vikings closed the season with a 59-45 win over Concordia Academy.

Junior Greta Tollefson made 8-of-13 field goal attempts and 9-of-11 free throws, scoring a game high 28 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 2 assists.  Junior Anna Stephenson had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while also distributing 2 assists.  Ryley Paulson added 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and collected 7 rebounds.

Pelican Rapids scored the first nine points of the game and never trailed.  They led 32-22 at the half and increased their lead to eighteen points in the second half.  The Vikings shot 46% from the field (8-39) and made 4-of-10 3’s for 40%. 

Concordia Academy shot 34.7% (17-49) from the field and made just 23% (6-26) of their 3’s.  The Vikings outscored them 19-5 at the free throw line.  Ivane Tensale led the Beacons with 13 points and Grace Landvik had a dozen.  Landvik also had a team high 7 rebounds.
