The Henning boys’ basketball team led 30-21 after the first half on Monday night, however, the Hornets broke the game open early in the second half and scored 48 second half points on the way to a 78-35 victory over Mahnomen-Waubun in the semifinal round of the Section 6A Tournament at Concordia College in Moorhead.

“Great win after a very slow start on both ends of the floor,” said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “We couldn’t get anything to fall early and gave up too many open looks. After we settled in, we got into a nice flow. We are excited to play in another big game against a great team on Thursday. Also, congrats to Isaac Fisher on scoring his 1,000th career point.”

Henning shot 53% (32-60) from the field.  Blake Wallevand (20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 4 assists), Isaac Fisher (16 points, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Brandon Trana (11 points) were all in double digits for the Hornets.  Lee Bjorklund and Parker Fraki each contributed 8 points.  Fraki also had a team high 6 assists and led the team with 4 steals.

Henning (28-1) will play West Central Area (27-2) for the Section 6A title at 7:00pm Thursday at Concordia College.
