Battle Lake held a 33-24 halftime lead at Hancock on Thursday night, however, the Owls came back to defeat the Battlers by the final score of 61-44 in the Section 6A playoffs.

“A fun atmosphere and a great time of the year,” commented Head Coach C.J. Peeters of Battle Lake.  “We had a great first half.  Had some major injuries in the second half with two starters going out in our first two possessions. We turned the ball over a ton.  We got some tough breaks and didn’t have enough mental toughness to stay composed and win on the road during the playoffs.  It was a great effort and I’m proud of our guys for how they finished the year.”

Riley Leabo and Brennan Amundson led the Battlers with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Leaders for Hancock were Matt Thompson with 16 and Brandon Kellenberger with 15.  Preston Rohloff contributed a dozen.

Battle Lake ends the season with a record of 12-13.  Hancock takes a 19-8 record into their Section 6A quarterfinal contest against Parkers Prairie (21-6) at 2:45pm Saturday at UM-Morris.
