Hornets Begin Section 6A Title Defense with Win Over Rothsay

The Henning boys’ basketball team opened defense of their Section 6A title with a resounding 82-32 thumping of the Rothsay Tigers on Thursday night.  The Hornets took a 44-15 lead at the half as they got off to a fast start on their home floor.

Henning was led by Blake Wallevand with 21 points.  Parker Fraki registered a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.  He also had 3 steals and dished out 6 assists.  Isaac Fisher added 9 points and 4 assists, and Blaine Wallevand had 8 points.

“We came out with some nice energy on the defensive end of the floor and set the tone,” said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “We are excited to get to play again Saturday against a very talented team from New York Mills.” 

Rothsay was led by Colby Larson with 9 points and 6 rebounds, and Tanner Heier with 8 points and 5 rebounds.

The Tigers finish the season with a record of 5-23.

Henning takes a 26-1 record up against New York Mills (16-10) at one o’clock Saturday in Perham.
