Craig Orlando of Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie led the area wrestlers at the Class A State Tournament, winning the 285 pound weight class by pinning 3 of his four opponents, including a pin in the championship match. Orlando got to the title match with a 1-0 win in the semifinals.
Three area wrestlers placed second in their weight classes. Jordan Lohse (152) of West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville was runner-up to Willie Von Ruden of Medford, losing 5-1 in the finals. Luke Tweeton of Frazee was second at 195, losing 7-3 in the championship finals. Ethan Hendrickson (113) of United North Central claimed second, losing in the finals to Derek Steele, 4-2.
Cian Buehler (285) of Ottertail Central finished third.
Fourth place finishers were Zane Swanson (195) of OTC, Brett Graham (182) of Frazee and Daniel Erlandson (220) of Breckenridge.
Sixth place went to New York Mills wrestlers Gabe Geiser (145) and Elliot Mann (195).
Class AA results saw Dawson Kellogg (195) of Perham place second, Jack Fudge (152) of Perham was third, and Dustin Portales (285) of Fergus Falls also placed third.
Detroit Lakes wrestlers Brody Ullyott (138) and Cade Jackson (126) came in second and fourth, respectively.
