The season ended on Thursday night for the Brandon-Evansville girls’ basketball team as the fourth-seeded Chargers suffered a 47-42 home court loss to Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.  The Wolverines led 26-19 at the half and were able to maintain the lead throughout the second half to secure the win.

"It was a tough game shooting the ball for us again tonight,” commented Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “You feel really bad as a coach when your players, for the most part, played with very high effort and played hard enough to win the game. But basketball is such a skill demanding game and requires you to execute those skills at a very high level in order to win big games. We unfortunately struggled with our execution tonight, and that was enough to cost us a chance to play in Morris. With all that said, I am extremely proud to have been the coach of the six seniors that we are graduating from the program. They are about as nice as a group of girls you will ever meet, and we will miss them deeply next year as players, but more importantly, as people.

The Chargers were led by 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists from Haddey Zastrow and 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots from Mikenna PattrinBailey Schaefer added 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

“We found out a lot about ourselves as a team this year, and I believe it is going to help us going into the off season and preparing for next year,” added Coach Traphagen. “I really like the girls we have coming back, and I believe that if this group commits to getting better and putting in the time in the off season, we will be competing at a very high level next year."

Brandon-Evansville finishes the season with a record of 15-12.

C-G-B (13-12) will face West Central Area at one o’clock Saturday afternoon at UM-Morris.
