Leaders for Hillcrest were Evan Gould (12 points), Micah Foss (10 points, 4 steals, 3 assists), Thomas Zwiers (9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) and Joel Quam (6 rebounds).
“Tough game tonight,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin. “I thought we played with a lot of intensity tonight especially in the first half. We struggled to shoot the ball and again settled for the outside shot far more than we know we should. In the second half, the Owls went on a a short but significant run to open up their lead to 15 or 17 and we just never recovered. We lost the battle of the boards by an overwhelming margin - on paper 37-15.”
Hancock ends the regular season with a record of 18-8, while the Comets finish 8-16. The Section 6A playoffs begin next week.
"As bad as the final score looks, I still believe this squad can do some big things once we get into playoffs," added Garvin. "I'm excited to see how they come out against our first playoff opponent!"
