Spartans End Season on a High Note with Overtime Win at Home

M State closed out the college basketball season with a thrilling 104-100 overtime victory over Ridgewater College from Willmar on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.  The Spartans finish the season with an overall record of 9-18 and a MCAC Southern Division mark of 3-11.

 

M State played a solid first half as they took a 45-35 lead into the locker room, however, the Warriors fought back to win the second half 55-45, forcing the extra session.  In overtime, M State scored 14 points to the Warriors 10.

The Spartans shot the ball will, hitting 49.3% (34-69) of their field goal attempts and making an impressive 19-of-37 (51.4%) shots from beyond the arc.  They also connected on 17-of-20 (85%) free throw opportunities.

Alend Alemadi led five Spartans in double figures with 29 points.  He also dished out 7 assists and gathered 5 rebounds.  James Hobson contributed 18 points and chased down 6 rebounds.  Renell Edwards added 15 points, 5 boards and 4 assists, Alex Hendricks chipped in with 14 points off the bench, and Nic Pearson was also in double digits with 10 points.  Jonas Baune collected a team high 11 rebounds to go along with 8 points on a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor.

Ridgewater shot 42% (37-76) from the field.  They were led by Cartier Bickley and Sam Olson with 24 and 23 points, respectively. Jon Olson contributed 14 points and Faizon Stephens added 13 points.  Travis Visser was the top rebounder for the Warriors with a dozen.

Ridgewater finishes the regular season with a record of 16-9 and a MCAC Southern Division mark of 8-6.
