The Brandon-Evansville girls’ basketball team took to the road for a game at Melrose on Thursday night which the Dutchmen won by the final score of 53-37, holding B-E to just 15 first half points in building a 30-15 halftime advantage.

Leaders for the Chargers were Mikenna Pattrin with 9 points and 5 rebounds, and Brittany Korkowski with 7 points and 3 boards.  Maddie Otto dished out 3 assists and Kristen Kokett came up with 3 steals.

“Tough loss on the road against a good Melrose team,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “The Luetmer girl is the real deal and she gave us fits all night. We couldn't find a rhythm offensively and shot under 30% because of that. Hard to win on the road when you shoot that poorly. We continued to battle though and play hard throughout the game even when things were a struggle offensively, so that is something to build on. The new season starts next week, everyone is back at 0-0 and it's win or go home. Don't need much more motivation than that to play our best.”

The Chargers (15-11) received the number four seed in the South half of Section 6A and will host fifth-seeded Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Thursday night at 7:00pm.
