The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team was able to extend their 25 point halftime lead and defeat the Bertha-Hewitt Bears 74-37 on Thursday night in Bertha.

“The girls came out early with a big first half tonight in Bertha,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “Our defense was able to cause some turnovers and we converted them into points to give us a 42-17 lead at the half over the Bears.”

Battle Lake was led in scoring by Grace VanErp with 25 points, Ady Tysdal chipped in 17 and Makenna Tysdal and Hailey Johnson added 10 and 8, respectively.

Battle Lake (8-16) snapped their four game losing skid with the win.  The Battlers received the number 7 seed in the South half of Section 6A and will open the playoffs on Thursday, February 27 at 7:00pm in Hancock against the Owls.
