Arrows Record Home Court Win Over Verndale

The Ashby Arrows defeated the Verndale Pirates 66-36 in a high school boys’ basketball contest in Ashby on Thursday night.  The Arrows enjoyed a 29-21 lead going into the halftime break.

Reaching double figures in scoring for the Arrows were Torin Olson with 14, Hunter Norby 13, and Ashton Ecker netting 10 points.  Jaden Norby grabbed 9 of the Arrows 33 boards and Hunter Norby recorded 5 steals.  The Arrows made 55% (27/49) of their shots.  They were 67% (4/6) from the free throw line.

Brandon Greenwaldt was the lone Pirate to score in double figures recording a dozen points.  Hunter Umland came close knocking down 3 three pointers in the first half.

“The team was very active and aggressive in each half defensively,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “We got good shots throughout the game and made a much higher percentage of them in the second half to widen the lead.”

The Arrows travel to Moorhead to take on Park Christian Monday night.  Thursday night's victory improves their overall record for the season to 16-8.
