On Thursday night the West Central Area Lady Knights traveled to Hancock to take on the Owls in a conference and section match-up.  The game started out fast with an up and down pace to it.  The Knights clung to a 31-27 lead at halftime.  In two possessions after halftime the game was tied at 31.  The Owls built an 8 point lead, but the Knights would answer back finally taking the lead back at 48-47 with 73 seconds to play.  The Knights relinquished the lead and then fouled to extend the game.  With a closing second 3 point attempt off the mark the game ended 51-48 in favor of the Owls.

The Lady Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 17 points, 5 steals, 3 rebounds and an assist.  Kaitlyn Hansen had 8 points, rebounds and a steal.  Kennedy Ulrich had 5 points, 2 rebounds and a steal.  Claire Stark had 4 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.  Teagan Nelson had 3 points, 3 rebounds and a steal.  Elizabeth Rustan had a team high 6 rebounds to go along with her 3 points, 2 steals and 2 assists.  Hailey Bennett had 3 points and 2 rebounds.  Brynn Fernholz had 3 points, 2 rebounds and an assist.  Kaylyn Ulrich had 2 points, a rebound and a steal.  Brooke Anderson had 2 rebounds and Halle Foslien grabbed a rebound to round out the box score.

“There are definitely a few things that need to be cleaned up in order to win a game like this, but it was a fun atmosphere and intense game.  Give the Owls credit because they did enough to win,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer of WCA.

West Central Area (17-7) will play at Parkers Prairie on Monday night.

Hancock (18-6) has a road game in Benson on Monday.
