The Underwood girls’ basketball team led 33-19 at halftime and went on to record a 65-30 Little Eight Conference road win over Rothsay on Thursday night.

“We started out a little slow tonight and we let Rothsay have too many open 3’s,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “After a change in rotations in our defense we did a much better job.  The start of the second half we did a really nice job of working for our best shot.”

Kayla Rocholl (14 points, 7 assists), Ally Johnson (11 points, 7 rebounds) and Josey Bugbee (10 points) were all in double digits for the lady Rockets.  Ceri Meech added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.  Moraes Bugbee finished with 8 points.

“With the win we will have a share of the conference title,” noted Coach Hovland.  “I’m extremely proud of this group.  Our season didn’t start out like we wanted with some early losses, but since the Christmas break they have flipped a switch and were able to reach one of their season goals.”

The Rockets finish LEC play with a 10-2 record and are 17-6 overall.  They will close out their regular season with home game against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Monday night.

Rothsay (8-16, 5-7 LEC) will finish the regular season with home games against New York Mills on Monday and Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday.
