Brandon-Evansville beat Wheaton Herman-Norcross 53-51 in a high school boys’ basketball contest on Thursday night in Evansville. The Chargers overcame a 31-17 halftime deficit to earn the win.

“Wheaton played great in the first half and shot the ball very well,” said B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “I thought they did a nice job bringing energy right away. After halftime we came out and executed much better offensively. Defensively we made some adjustments to not let them get as easy looks at the hoop. I'm proud of the way our guys gutted this one out. It's nice to see the fight after being down 20 in the first half.”

Keagan Schiele had a team high 17 points, making 7-of-8 free throws, to lead the Chargers.  Tanner Bitzan contributed 11 points, all in the second half.

Matt Thielen led the Warriors with 22 points and Nick Lupkes joined him in double digits with 11.

“The weird part about this whole thing is that we have to go play them again on Saturday when we play a boys/girls double header at the University of Minnesota Morris,” said Coach Hintermeister.

Brandon-Evansville is now 13-7 overall and 7-4 in Little Eight Conference play.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross falls to 9-11 overall and has a 4-4 Pheasant Conference mark.
