Parkers Prairie doubled up on Brandon-Evansville as they took a 38-19 halftime lead in a Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball contest in Brandon on Thursday night.  The Panthers went on to defeat the Chargers by a final score of 63-48.

“It was the tale of two halves tonight,” commented Head Coach Zachary Traphagen of the Chargers. “We let their shooters get rolling in the first half and put ourselves in a 19 point hole at the half. Second half we clawed back into the game and got it down to a 6 point deficit with about 5 minutes to go but ran out of gas to complete the comeback. You just cannot afford to go down so big early against a good team and give yourselves a good chance to win. Tomorrow is a day to get better so we can put together a full 36 minute effort on Saturday against a good Wheaton team.”

Bailey Schaefer scored 15 points, pulled down 4 rebounds and came up with 2 steals.  Brittany Korkowski and Kailee Klimek each scored 7 points.  Korkowski also had 10 rebounds and 3 steals.  Kristen Kokett gathered 6 rebounds and had 4 steals.

Parkers Prairie (15-6) finishes tied for the Little Eight Conference title with Underwood.  Both teams were 10-2 in conference competition.  The Panthers will host West Central Area on Monday night.

Brandon-Evansville (14-10, 9-3 LEC) will play Wheaton/Herman-Norcross at one o’clock Saturday at UM-Morris.
