Tuesday night the West Central Area Knights traveled to Twin Valley to take on the NCE-UH Titans in a section contest. The game started out with the Knights ahead quickly 4-0, but then the Titans went took a 12-7 lead. The Knights would respond with a 13-2 run and led 20-14 with a few minutes to play in the first half. The Knights would inch slightly ahead and hold a 28-19 advantage at halftime. The Knights came out with 4 straight points out of halftime to build a 32-19 lead and then it was back and forth for a good portion of the second half. The Knights made some free throws and finished the game with a 62-42 advantage.
The Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 19 points, 5 steals, 3 rebounds and an assist. Brynn Fernholz added 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Hailey Bennett put 13 points on the board and grabbed a team high six rebounds to go along with 4 steals. Elizabeth Rustan scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, stole the ball twice and assisted on a basket. Kaitlyn Hansen scored 4 points, had 2 rebounds and a steal. Kennedy Ulrich scored 4 points, had 4 rebounds, assisted on 2 baskets and had a steal. Kaylyn Ulrich had 5 rebounds and 2 steals in the books. Teagan Nelson had 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Claire Stark had 5 rebounds. Brook Anderson had 3 rebounds and a steal. Halle Foslien had 2 rebounds and a steal.
“This game shows us what we can do if we rebound the ball aggressively,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer.
West Central Area (17-6) will play at Hancock on Thursday night.
