The Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team led by a four point margin, 38-34, at halftime Monday night and held on to secure a 72-68 Heart O’Lakes Conference home court victory over the Frazee Hornets.

“After falling behind early in the game, we were able to build a twelve point lead with about five minutes to go in the first half,” reported Head Coach John Gullingsrud of Pelican Rapids. “From that point on, we really struggled on the defensive end both individually and as a team as Frazee closed to within four at the half. We were able to make enough plays offensively in the second half to keep a four to eight point lead most of the way and we made some free throws down the stretch to come away with the win.”

Viking leaders were McHale Korf with 21, Logan Fahje with 13, Liam Sytsma with 10 and Hunter Williams with 10.

Frazee was led by Broden Fleisher with a game high points.  Jack Courneya and Justin Courneya contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Pelican Rapids (15-7) recorded their fifth straight win and will host the Breckenridge Cowboys on Friday night.

Frazee fell to 9-10 on the season.  They are off until Saturday when they face Barnesville at Concordia College in Moorhead.
