Brenden Adams, 6-4, 312 pound offensive linemen from Fergus Falls High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to play college football for the MSUM Dragons.  His classmate, 6-2, 180 pound wide receiver/defensive back Michael Maanum has signed a letter of intent to play for the Spartans at M State in Fergus Falls.

Adams and Maanum were members of the Otter football team that went 5-5 overall and 5-3 in District play, advancing the section semifinals his senior season.

“I’m happy they are getting this opportunity and I wish them the best,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Steve Olson.  “We have a nice history of guys moving on and playing college football.  I’m glad Brenden and Mike are seeing their hard work pay off and reaching this goal they set for themselves.”

Dragons Head Coach Steve Laqua said, “Brenden Adams, nicknamed ‘Bear’ by his teammates, is an Eagle Scout, so we know he has commitment to more than just football, he’s committed to something bigger than himself and that’s something our program takes a lot of pride in is having commitment to service and something bigger than the individual.  We felt that his values matched with our values and he is definitely a good football player.  He’s got a huge upside, a huge frame.  We had him at our football camp and were able to put him through the drills that we do and we know he can do those things and he’s willing to work hard which is something you need as an offensive lineman.”

Said Spartan Head Coach Cory Miller, “We are excited to add Mike Maanum to our roster.  It’s our number one goal to recruit the area as well as we can and getting someone to stay home and play for us in year one is a big step in that direction.  We will be looking to use Mike at wide receiver.  He is an athletic player with some height.  He blocks well on the perimeter and has shown the ability to run quick game routes as well.”
