The West Central Area Lady Knights hosted the Wheaton Warriors in a conference and section match-up on Thursday night. The Knights jumped out to an early lead, but the warriors battled back. Each time the Knights would increase the lead to double digits it would be cut to a single digit lead. The Knights would lead at halftime 36 - 26. The second half, the Knights came out and built a 14 point lead. The Warriors battled back and cut the game to single digits. It was a tight contest down the home stretch and some clutch made Free-Throws finished the game off for a Knights victory 67-60.
“The game was great for us in stretches and then in some other parts there are things we need to clean up moving forward. I’m proud of the girls’ effort tonight and the way we communicated for most of the event,” stated Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer.
The Lady Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Teagan Nelson had 8 points, a steal and an assist. Elizabeth Rustan had 8 points, 6 rebounds and an assist. Hailey Bennett had 5 points, 6 rebounds, a steal and an assist. Brynn Fernholz had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. Kennedy Ulrich had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Kaitlyn Hansen had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Kaylyn Ulrich had 3 points and 2 rebounds. Claire Stark had 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Brooke Anderson had 2 rebounds.
