Otter Boys' Dominate in 8-1 Win Over Wolverines

Fergus Falls cashed in on a pair of early power play opportunities on Friday night and went on to record an 8-1 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls.

Cole Zierden got the Otters going at 5:14 with assists from Kaden Peterson and Michael DeBritoCarter Thielke then converted from Logen Schake and Isaac Johnson at 15:43.

Isaac Young’s goal at 8:53 of the second period made it a 3-0 Otter lead.  DeBrito and Ian Richards earned assists on the goal.  Wadena-Deer Creek scored next as John Oberg found the back of the net, assisted by Chase Domier and Lleyten Pettit at 12:19.  At the 14:26 mark the Otters got that goal back on Zierden’s second of the game.  DeBrito completed his playmaker with his third assist of the night.

The third period belonged to the Otters as Cole Wentworth scored from Colton Partain at 1:13, Logen Schake from Thielke and Peterson at 10:20, DeBrito unassisted at 12:01 and Young at 13:22 with a shorthanded tally.

Fergus Falls put 45 shots on the Wolverines net and Otter goalie Ben Swanson stopped 22 shots in the Otter net.

The Otters (11-12-1 will close out their regular season schedule with a game against St. Cloud on Monday night at 7:15pm at the Community Arena.  The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was moved up due to the Otters hosting a playoff game in girls’ hockey on Tuesday night against River Lakes.
