The M State Men’s basketball team traveled to Coon Rapids Wednesday where they faced Anoka-Ramsey in a MCAC Southern Division contest which the Golden Rams won 99-89. Anoka-Ramsey had a slim 46-44 halftime lead over the Spartans but outscored M State 53-45 over the final 20 minutes.
The Golden Rams hit 52.2% (35-67) of their shots from the floor and 9-of-30 (30%) from 3-point range. They made 71.4% (20-28) of their free throw attempts. Nashiem Lozier scored 29 points on 11-of-17 shooting. He also had a team high 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Dylan Hay scored 18 off the bench, Terrell Fountain added 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and D.J. Pettigrew had 14 points, 4 assists and 3 steals.
M State shot 57.6% (34-59) from the field, making 15-of-34 (44%) from behind the arc. Alex Hendricks poured in 30 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Nic Pearson added 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, Renell Edwards contributed 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, Alend Alemadi chipped in with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and Zakaria Zaid finished with 10 points and 8 boards.
M State (8-14, 2-7 MCAC South) will host Riverland Community College at 3:00pm Saturday in Fergus Falls.
