Ally Johnson hit some big shots down the stretch, including the game winner at the buzzer, as the Underwood girls’ basketball team recorded a 45-43 home court victory over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Monday night.

“We scored the first basket of the game and then trailed the whole game until 36 seconds left when Ally Johnson converted a 3 point play, to go up by 2,” reported Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland. “Maycee Tolifson ties the game up with 18 seconds left. After a time out we got a good look at the basket when Brooke Hovland drove to the basket and found Ally for the buzzer beater. We did not have our best game tonight and WHN came ready to play.  The girls did show some resilience and grit down the stretch. We trailed by 8 with 2 minutes to go, but they kept on fighting.”

Kayla Rocholl paced the Rockets with 24 points and Johnson finished with 7.  Ceri Meech pulled down a team high 7 rebounds and came up with 3 steals.  Hovland had 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

Underwood (13-4) will host Hillcrest on Tuesday night and Battle Lake on Thursday night.  The Rockets will face West Central Area High School in Barrett on Saturday afternoon.
