The West Central Area Knights moved to 15-2 on the year as they took down powerhouse Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 73-65 in Barrett o n Saturday afternoon in Barrett.

"What a great day", said Knights Coach Kraig Hunter. "We had our "Fight for Cancer" day at our girls/boys double header vs Morris.  We want to thank all the parents and people that helped organize all the events to raise money for cancer and also thank you to the Morris community for participating.  This brought a packed house crowd creating an awesome atmosphere in our gym.  Morris is a team that features 6'9 Jackson Loge along with a host of players who are good 3-point shooters.  Morris made nineteen threes in their 110-101 win over ACGC last week and the other night they had the #1 ranked team in the state, the BOLD Warriors, tied and lost at the buzzer.  So for us to beat a bigger AA school with that kind of talent, we are very pleased and proud of our kids."

"Our kids played hard on the defensive end, we rebounded with a pack mentality, and we were poised on offense," concluded Hunter.  The Knights hit 26-48 shots from the field for 54%.  They had six different players make 3's again going 11-21 for 52% from 3-point land and hit 10-11 free throws for 91%.  The Tigers made 21-47 shots for 45%, including 6-21 three-pointers.  The Tigers got to the free throw line much more than the Knights going 17-27 from the line.  The Knights outrebounded Morris 29-25 and both teams had 11 turnovers.

Leaders for the Knights were Grant Beuckens with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals; Jack VanKempen had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots; Gage Staples had 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists; Tate Christenson had 10 points and a team high 6 assists; Jacob Bright had 8 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals; Brady Reeve had 5 points and 5 rebounds and Ryder Staples had 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Scoring for the Tigers were Jackson Loge with 16 points, Cade Fehr with 15, Bryce Jergenson 11, Thomas Tiernan 9, Durgin Decker 7, Toby Gonnerman 3, Bradley Rohloff 2, and Riley Rimers 2.

The Knights (15-2) will host the Parkers Prairie Panthers (15-3) on Tuesday night in Barrett.
