Parkers Prairie went to Underwood on Friday night for a Little Eight Conference boys’ basketball contest.  The Panthers held a slim 27-24 halftime lead, however, they took control in the second half and went on to defeat the rockets by the score of 60-41.

Micah Arens led the Panthers with 20 points and Florian Koep added 16.

"Overall we had a great team effort tonight on both sides of the court,” commented Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  “Our first half we played really well and kept a very good Parkers Prairie team off balance.  In the second half, their pressure got to us too much and we forced too many turnovers and they pulled away at the end.  Our tiredness at the end slowed us down, but battled all the way through.”

Canaan Kugler and Braden Thorson led Underwood with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

“The bigger picture tonight was the support of the community for our 2nd Annual Coaches Versus Cancer game,” added Coach Meece.  “Through our sponsorships and donations in game tonight, we raised over $2000 for the American Cancer Society and the fight against cancer.  I would like to thank everyone who supported the cause and donated to this event and I hope that we can continue to build it to a bigger event every year."

Underwood (1-16) will travel to Hancock on Monday night.

Parkers Prairie (15-3) has won five straight games.  They will play West Central area on Tuesday night in Barrett.
