Jensen's Eight Point Night Leads Blades to 8-5 Win at Park Rapids

The Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades scored eight goals on 32 shots Thursday night in Park Rapids as they skated past the panthers by the score of 8-5.

Park Rapids jumped out to a 2-0 lead on their home ice on goals by Joshua Crandall, assisted by Joey Hillukka, and Jaxson Lund, assisted by Brody HagenJase Jensen of the Blades then rattled off three straight goals to give his team a 3-2 lead after one period.  Jensen’s first goal was unassisted, his second goal was setup by Isaac Wohlers, and on the third goal Wohlers and Tanner Barth earned assists.

In the second period, Caden Opheim scored from Sam Meier to bring Park Rapids back into a tie at 3-3.  The Blades countered with a pair of goals within 11 seconds of each other.  The first one came at 7:35 from Barth, assisted by Wohlers and Jensen, and the second at 7:46 from Wohlers, assisted by Jensen and Barth.

Breckenridge/Wahpeton increased their lead to 6-3 at 3:29 of the third on a power play goal by Jensen, once again assisted by Wohlers and Barth.  Reed Sharp scored at 14:01 for Park Rapids, cutting the lead to 6-4.  Hillukka and Jeron Pinoniemi assisted on the goal.  Jensen scored his fifth goal of the game at 15:20, unassisted and his sixth came at 15:36 from Wohlers and Barth, kicking the Blades lead to 8-4.  Justin Baker wrapped up the scoring for Park Rapids at 16:15 with Josh Kuhlman assisting.

Jensen had an amazing night on the ice with 6 goals and 2 assists.  Barth finished with one goal and four assists, and Wohlers had one goal and five assists.

Hunter Wamre was in goal for the Blades, coming up with 29 saves on 34 shots.

Breckenridge/Wahpeton (12-6) will play Kittson County Central on Tuesday night in Hallock.
