The Alexandria boys’ hockey team defeated River Lakes by the score of 2-1 on Thursday at the Paynesville Arena.

The Cardinals struck just 59 seconds into the opening period when Peyton Doty cashed in off a pass from Jacob Partington.

An Ethan Howard goal at 2:18 of the second period, setup by Logan Stellmach, pulled River Lakes even at a goal apiece.  Alexandria regained the lead at 11:03 of the period when Josiah Gronholz scored from Derek Pesta.  That goal stood up as the game winner.

Alexandria had 26 shots on goal and River Lakes finished with 21.  Cardinal goalie Landyn James stopped 20 shots and River Lakes netminder Drew Tangen had 24 saves.
