Doherty's 4 Point Night Leads Alexandria Girls to 5-2 Win

Goaltender Jordan O’Kane stopped 20-of-22 shots on goal Friday night and Alexandria put 46 shots on the Hibbing/Chisholm net in a 5-2 girls’ hockey victory for the Cardinals.

Following a scoreless first period, Meg Shercliffe got Alexandria on the board with a power play goal from Mayson Toft and Anna Doherty at 5:05 of the second period.  Doherty and Hanley Block added a pair of shorthanded goals just 43 seconds apart to increase the Cardinals lead to 3-0.  Doherty was setup by Makenna Aure and Shercliffe assisted on Block’s goal.  Aune Boben’s power play goal at 14:03 of the period was the first goal for Hibbing/Chisholm and was assisted by Julia Gherardi and Claire Rewertz.  Alexandria completed the second period scoring with their fourth goal at 15:16, scored by Kaci Trosvig and assisted by Lauren Maras and Doherty.

Alexandria scored their final goal of the game at 12:15 of the third period when Maras scored from Doherty.  Hibbing/Chisholm wrapped up all scoring for the night at 16:26 when Gherardi scored from Allie Bussey.

Alexandria (14-6-3) will host Grand Rapids/Greenway on Saturday afternoon at the Runestone Arena.
