Otter Girls Win 15th Straight Game

The Fergus Falls’ girls basketball team paid a visit to Alexandria to face the Cardinals in a Central Lakes Conference matchup.  The intense defensive struggled ended with Fergus Falls on top, 51-43, winning their fifteenth straight game and remaining unbeaten in Central Lakes Conference play.

Fergus Falls jumped out to a 13-4 lead, however, by halftime their lead was down to 3 points at 28-25.  The Otters never relinquished the lead, but they could never get it larger than 9 points.  The Cardinals cut the lead to one point in the second half.

Fergus Falls made 14-of-22 free throws in the game, with Ellie Colbeck making 7-of-8 free throws.  Colbeck scored 23 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Tori Ratz scored 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.  Sabrina Fronning had another solid all-around game with 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  Paige Pearson ended the night with 5 rebounds, 2 steals and one blocked shot.

Ella Grove led Alexandria with 17 points and Mia McGrane added 11.  Fergus Falls forced 17 Alexandria turnovers.

The Otter girls (15-1) will host Detroit Lakes on Tuesday night.

Alexandria (14-5) is at Bemidji on Monday and at Willmar on Tuesday.
