The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team recorded their third straight win as they beat Brandon-Evansville 42-38 on Friday night in Battle Lake.

Brennan Amundson led the Battlers with 17 points and Riley Leabo added 14.

“Down by five at the half, we dug in and beat a tough team on our home floor,” said Battle Lake Head Coach C.J. Peeters.  “It was a hard played game by both teams.  We really need to focus and execute.  We met the physical challenge tonight but we are lacking so much in doing what we are actually trying to do.  If we slow down and think we will continue to get better.  We missed a lot of free throws and had a lot of turnovers, but overall it was a good win at home against a tough conference opponent.”

Marshall Riedel led Brandon-Evansville with 13 points and Keagan Schiele added 10.  Titus Fuller contributed 8 points.

“I thought Battle Lake played more physical than us,” said Head Coach Trent Hintermeister of the Chargers. “They rebounded better than us and executed in the second half better than us. Give credit to their players and coaches for the way this game ended up. We will continue to grind, get better, and hopefully get healthy.”

Battle Lake (3-8) will play at Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night.

Brandon-Evansville (8-6) will host Underwood on Tuesday.
