Kaden Peterson’s overtime goal lifted the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team to their fifth straight win on Thursday night as they defeated the Willmar Cardinals by the score of 4-3.

Cole Zierden gave the Otters the early lead with Isaac Young earning an assist. A goal by Elbridge DeKraai tied the game at 1-1 with assists going to Devin Sankey and Jason Malmgren.

Willmar took a 2-1 lead on an unassisted goal by Jack Michelson in the second period, but Zierden’s second goal of the night, setup by Michael DeBrito pulled the Otters even at 2-2.  Isaac Johnson put the Otters ahead 3-2 with a goal assisted by Carter Thielke and Andrew Johnson.

In the third period, Ethan Stark scored from Sankey and Taton Hansen, tying the game at 3-3 and setting up Peterson’s game winner in OT.

Fergus Falls held a 40-33 advantage in shots on goal.  Ben Swanson turned aside 30 shots in the Otter net.
