Lexi Bright scored 21 points, dished out 3 assists, had 5 steals and pulled down a pair of rebounds to lead the West Central Area lady Knights to a 61-29 girls’ basketball victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Tuesday night.
Brynn Fernholz added 12 points, 3 steals, 3 assists and a rebound. Hailey Bennett had 7 points, 4 rebounds and a steal. Elizabeth Rustan had 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Claire Stark had 5 points, 3 rebounds and a steal. Ireland Winter added 4 points and rebound. Kaylyn Ulrich and Teagan Nelson each had 2 points. Ulrich added 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Nelson added 5 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. Brooke Anderson had 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Kailtyn Hansen had 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Halle Foslien grabbed 2 rebounds and Chloe LaRue added a rebound on the night.
“We did some very nice things tonight and it was a positive outing for the girl,” said WCA Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “We need to continue to employ playing strong throughout the game like we did tonight going forward.”
Madison Foss was the only Comet to reach double digits, scoring 11 points. Mackenzie Foss added 8 points and 4 rebounds and Molly McGuire had 4 points and 5 boards. Anna Rasmussen had a team high 6 rebounds.
“We really struggled with their defensive pressure and physicality,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “We were never able to get into any sort of offensive rhythm. Madi did a nice job looking for her shot and shooting the ball with confidence.”
Hillcrest will host Ashby in a Little Eight Conference contest on Thursday.
West Central Area (11-4) is home to Ortonville on Thursday night.
