The Rothsay boys’ basketball team hosted Little Eight rival Underwood on Tuesday night.  Rothsay held a 27-26 and finished with a 64-50 final.

“Tonight was a special night with us hosting “Fill the Bill” in which we raised money for the Bill and Dar Rose Scholarship foundation,” said Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “We came out and played hard, but really fell flat late in first half and early second half.  Our boys really competed down the stretch and hit some big shots to extend the lead.”

Rothsay was led by Sam Danielson with 21 points, Colby Larson with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Tanner Heier with 13 points and 4 assists.

Leading scorers for Underwood were Braden Thorson with 17, Canaan Kugler with 15 and Krosby Aasness with 14.

"Rothsay did a nice job of keeping us off balanced on the offensive side of the ball tonight,” stated Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  “They frustrated us at times and we couldn't get anything going offensively.  Defensively, we lost their shooters too many times as they made 12 3s on the night, with 7 of them coming in the 2nd half.  We hung with them but lost gas late in the 2nd half. "

Rothsay (2-14) will travel to Graceville for a matchup with C-G-B on Monday, January 27.

Underwood (1-12) will host Park Christian School on Thursday and travel to Ashby on Friday.
