Otter Boys Win on Zierden's Overtime Goal

Sauk Rapids-Rice overcame a 4-2 deficit to force overtime on Thursday night, however, the visitors from Fergus Falls were able to escape with a 5-4 win when Cole Zierden scored his second goal of the night at 2:35 of the extra period.  Zierden was assisted by Kaden Peterson.

Zierden had also scored the first goal of the night, just 58 seconds into the game, with assists from Logan Schake and Isaac JohnsonCayden Christensen of Sauk Rapids-Rice tied the game at 6:05 with assists from Brady Pesta and Brandon Bokelman.  A Noah Tarczon goal, assisted by Isaac Johnson and Zierden at 9:41 put the Otters back in front 2-1 and a Kaden Peterson goal, assisted by Tarczon and Isaac Young at 10:48 made the score 3-1 Otters after one period.

Sterling Andrews gave the Otters a 4-1 advantage with a goal at 5:32 of the second period, assisted by Young.  Brady Pesta scored from Calvin Comstock and Easton Portner at 15:05 of the second, cutting the Otters lead to 4-2.

Third period goals by Carter Kayser at 1:51 and Cayden Christensen on the power play at 7:21 pulled the Storm even at 4-4, forcing OT.  Kayser was setup by Comstock and assists went to Landon Lunser and Caleb Euteneuer on the Christensen goal.

Fergus Falls put 37 shots on net and Sauk Rapids-Rice had 32.  The Otters had all four of the overtime shots on goal.

Ian Stumbo came up with 28 saves in the Otter net.

Fergus Falls (8-9-1) is on a 4-game winning streak. They will play at Willmar on Thursday night and at Red Wing on Saturday afternoon.
