Otter Boys Erupt for Five First Period Goals in 7-1 Win Over Prairie Center

Ben Swanson stopped 19 of 20 Prairie Center shots on goal Tuesday night and the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team scored five first period goals on the way to a 7-1 victory.

Matthew Niblock started the scoring at 1:19 of the first period, assisted by Carter Thielke.  At 5:04 Isaac Young scored from Kaden Peterson to make it 2-0.  Unassisted goals by Cole Zierden at 6:18 and Noah Tarczon at 9:09 gave the Otters a 4-0 lead.  At the fourteen minute mark Michael DeBrito tallied an unassisted short-handed goal, making the score 5-0.

Logan Schake scored from Peterson at 10:07 of the second period to put the Otters in front 6-0.  Eli Fletcher got Prairie Center on the board with an assist from Brady Cline at 15:29.

The Otters concluded the scoring with a power play goal from Tarczon at 3:16, assisted by Peterson and Young.

Fergus Falls (7-9-1) won for a third straight time.  Their next game is Thursday at Sauk Rapids-Rice.
