Alexandria Girls Top Otters for Fifth Straight Win

The Alexandria girls' hockey team won for a fifth straight time when they beat Fergus Falls 5-2 on Tuesday night at the Runestone Arena.

Mayson Toft got the scoring started at 10:36 of the opening period with assists from Marki Oberg and Lauren Maras, giving Alexandria a 1-0 lead.  A power play goal by Ellie Andersen tied the game at 11:58.  Maddie Hulter and Chloe Nelson earned assists on the goal.  Kaci Trosvig gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead when she found the back of the net with just 44 second left in the opening period.  Trosvig was setup by Reise Waldorf.

In the second period Trosvig scored again, this time assisted by Anna Doherty at 5:26.  Maras took the lead up to 4-1 with assists from Trosvig and Riley Nyberg with just 1:09 remaining in the period.

Fergus Falls cut the lead to 4-2 when Jadyn Bye dug the puck out of the corner and sent it out in front of the net where Lizzy Moxness deflected it into the net at 4:26 of the third period.  Doherty finished the scoring at 13:01, cashing in a pass from Maras.

Alexandria (12-5-3) will play at Willmar on Thursday night.

Fergus Falls (9-12) will play at Sartell/Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday.

Hailee Bailey stopped 23 of the 25 Fergus Falls shots on goal. 

Ana Jyrkas of the Otters came up with 25 saves on 30 Alexandria shots.
